We have tried to transition Sam from his Comotomo bottle to a normal cup for a while. Following the recommendations from many parents, I chose the highest rated Munchkin 360 Cup.
Sam didn't want to use it when he was 8 months old. I decided to wait after he passed his first birthday, when he had good number of teeth to bite the silicon lid. This time it was a bit better, but he still struggled to bite the silicon cover and drink water at the same time.
So I did a bit of research on this, and it turned out that he wasn't the only baby/toddler who struggled with using this cup. As a matter of fact, some children who got used to this cup developed problematic drinking problems: they may use excessive jaw movements to get the liquid out of the cup, or they may have their tongue to rest in the front of their mouth, or they tip their head back when they drink from the 360 cup which forces their tongue to work in an abnormal pattern. I am so happy that Sam hasn't got used to this cup. Now when I serve him water, I just remove the lid and hold the bottle for him, before he masters the skills of drinking from a normal cup.
